Easy DIY Headboard
Guess what I have been up to lately? In addition to designing kids art spaces, I have recently been working on a few kid’s bedrooms, playrooms, and even family living rooms! It has been so fun working with entire families to make their homes more playful and inviting.
One of these projects was for a 3-year-old boy’s bedroom. I wanted to brighten the dark room up with white walls, but still add a playful touch with paint. I decided to create a graphic DIY headboard and used a super easy painter’s trick to create straight lines. Here is the work in progress…
Can you guess what the trick is?
Simple Painting Trick
I created this modern, playful house simply by using painter’s tape (affiliate link). Just tape off the outline of your design, paint inside the tape, then carefully peel it off before it dries.
And there you have it! A low cost way to add a playful touch to your walls. You can even get your kids involved and let them roll out the paint.
It doesn’t have to be just for a headboard. You can add fun graphics to any wall or even try it out on a smaller scale. Kids love experimenting with this tape resist technique too. If you’re not sure about trying it out on your walls, you can start with paper, canvas, wood, pretty much any painting surface. You can see what we did in my art classes here.
Have you ever tried using this technique? Was it on a wall or on something a bit smaller? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
It is very interesting what you can do with a room. It is very challenging to me. I find the simple design goes a long way.
